Cataract and glaucoma
Both cataract and glaucoma are age related diseases. Their prevalence increases with increasing age.
Glaucoma patients have higher incidence of cataract and in some patients particularly those with angle closure type of glaucoma cataract surgery can be an effective treatment.
Cataract surgery now days can be combined in some cases with modern devices or adjuvant laser to reduce the pressure as well. It is therefore an opportunity to treat both conditions at the same time in suitable cases.
